ACNEThere is no single cause for acne. However, a number of factors may contribute to the development of the condition, such as:
Heredity
Increase in sebum (oil) production
Bacteria (Propionibacterium - P acne bacteria, which produce toxic substances that attack the follicles)
Hormones
Retention hyperkeratosis - abnormal build up and retention of cells in the follicles
Inflammation
Acne is often caused by blockage of sebaceous glands. This leads to an accumulation of the skin's natural oils (sebum). Bacteria on the skin feed on sebum and produce waste products which further inflame the sebaceous glands, causing acne. Irritant substances can leak into the surrounding skin causing further inflammation.Useful links : Pipeline - AvuganeTM
