Zemab Zemab is a protein product comprising an antibody-toxin for the treatment of specific types of cancers. This recombinant protein targets the ErbB2/HER2 receptor, which plays a central role in the development of breast cancer, and is also believed to be involved in certain other cancers, such as head and neck cancer. Initial studies have demonstrated a reduction in tumour size in six out of ten patients after injection of Zemab directly into ErbB2/HER2-positive tumours. Following the ongoing development of a new GMP compliant production process for Zemab, the next clinical studies are expected to be initiated in 1H 2008. TopoTarget has exercised its option from Novartis, and now holds an exclusive license for the further development of Zemab; Useful links : Therapeutic Areas - HER-2+ Cancers Science - Immunotoxins
